Finding Focus
People are less happy when distracted. In fact, research shows that whether people were focused on what they are doing has a bigger impact on their happiness than what they are actually doing. So, simply paying attention can be a greater determinant of your enjoyment than the activities you engage in. Given our busy lives and distracted culture, slowing down to truly focus and be present is a challenge. We need concrete tools to know how to shift from doing to being, so we can do the most creative and thoughtful work and also take restful and pleasurable time away from it.
The Finding Focus presentation will outline:
the positive effects on life satisfaction, health, and job performance that come when we work to improve focus
how to practice this intentionally; how to craft a less distracting environment and schedule and lastly,
how to get to ‘flow’, that transcendent state of energized focus when you are so immersed in what you’re doing that you lose track of time.
Although it’s rare, it’s worth striving for, as it is truly you at your best, your most creative, productive and most satisfied and fulfilled.
